We’re really excited to welcome Glen Pickering to the HBOH team as the Theatre Events Manager.
He started with us on Monday this week and has hit the ground running with two events happening at the end of the week!
Glen has moved to Hawke’s Bay from Auckland where he was company manager for New Zealand Opera.
Glen studied performing arts school at EIT during the late 90’s. The school was run out of the Hawke’s Bay Opera House buildings, in fact the office space where we work is where Glen auditioned for EIT.
Glen went on to study at Unitec school of performing and screen arts, after which Glen was a professional actor & director, working with most professional theatre companies in NZ including; Auckland Theatre Company, Silo Theatre and Centrepoint Theatre. He has also had the pleasure of working with NZ’s finest actors and directors including Raymond Hawthorne, Colin McColl, Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Michael Hurst and Oliver Driver. In 2008 Glen became the artistic director of the National Youth Theatre Company.
Glen says he loves the Hawke’s Bay lifestyle, the weather, the wine, the opportunities, the creativity, the landscapes, the Magpies, but most of all the people.
We also asked glen…
If you won a million dollars what would you do?
Throw a big party…create free youth theatre programmes around the country to help underprivileged children gain confidence and life skills through the performing arts…and spend a year travelling around the world with my family.
